What I’ve been up to this past month
I haven’t posted in more than a month - that’s the longest since I started the blog 3 years ago. The reason is that I’ve been so busy. I’m not even at home at present, being based in Limerick for the past two and a half weeks.
I’m Programme Administrator for the annual Summer Music on the Shannon music school and festival located in the University Concert Hall in UL, Limerick, and as such need to be in Limerick for the bulk of the programme.
This is the fifth year I’ve done it. This year is different in many aspects but the one that has most impacted on my time is the Summer Music on the Shannon (SMS) blog, entitled Let’s make summer music, which I set up 10 days before the programme commenced. While the bulk of the posts have been put up by Paul O’Mahony who is the other half of the blogging team, I’ve been trying to keep my end up too. This, coupled with the very large workload involved, means no time to post here. Until now that is!
The fact that I am posting here now is a symptom that things are running smoothly with the programme (shhhh! I don’t want to say that too loudly … just in case).
Things poetical have not been neglected either. I performed some poems at two of the Mozart+ concerts in The Georgian House as follows:
- Thursday 30 July 2009
- Tuesday 11 August 2009 - poems performed were Ganntanas, “As deer move…” solo, The Parting accompanied by Tim Hurtz on oboe, In Ganymede and Jungle Warfare accompanied by Jon Beder on percussion and Fabio Eduardo de Oliveira on trumpet
The second concert was recorded in its entirety (audio) and will be available on CD from the SMS office (only available to SMS faculty, students and staff at present I’m afraid).
