I first noticed that the blackthorn had come into flower on Sunday 5th of April last. It’s quite a bit earlier than last year’s 30th April due to the unseasonably cold weather we experienced then. This year the blackthorn blooms are absolutely gorgeous and abundant - it’s been a long long time since they’ve been so beautiful. I hope it bodes well for the summer.
