Rejection slip from The Stinging Fly

I received a rejection slip from The Stinging Fly last week. It wasn’t my first rejection slip by a long shot, nor, I dare say, will it be my last. I had submitted 4 poems in February for their consideration: Full Moon over America, Resurrection, The Crash, and Morning Fog. I was hopeful - as one always is - of an acceptance. I’ll submit again next year in expectation of a better outcome.

I received one from the SHOp, so know the feeling. Worst of all, they said they had ‘almost’ chosen one of my poems, but then decided against it. No explanation why! Ah well, another rejection slip for the pile!
Looking forward to hearing of your successful inclusion in The Stinging Fly!

How cruel and insensitive of them to say they “almost” selected one of your poems! That’s even worse than the rejection. By the way, what is SHOp - I’m not familiar with it.
